... "Hello, is this Blue
Cabs?" "Yes, I need a taxi to the hospital
please". "2 hours. No, I think my wife might
deliver by then". The dispatcher replies, "Oh,
I see, I'm sorry, all I can say is best wishes."
Husband looking for taxi on the road, receives call,
"Hi, this is Blue Cabs calling. Listen, I have
4 kids and I know what you are going through. I will
be there myself in 15 minutes".
Many thanks to the owner of Blue Cabs for safely and
calmly transporting us in his own family car (complete
with baby seats) to the hospital. Also many thanks to
the nursing staff at El Nada Hospital in Manyal for
their care, professionalism and attention. Thanks Dr.
Ehab Solimon and his team of efficient, professional
and entertaining staff for safely delivering our daughter,
taking good care of us all and for the anatomy lesson
for my husband! Thanks to our families and friends for
their care and best wishes - thanks for being there
and reaching out to us. Mom, we appreciate your help
more than you know!
Finally ... thanks to Alia, for coming into our lives.

(Lantern) is just pure fun for the kids, nothing
more. Of all the Islamic countries, fanoos is
most common in Egypt, as part of the culture,
a tradition that goes back all the way to the
reign of the Fatimid Caliphate. The night before
Ramadan, the Caliph* would go outside to look
for the moon signaling the beginning of the month
of Ramadan. The children of the town would go
out with the Caliph and light the way for him.
Each child would carry a fanoos and sing songs
to welcome in the new month of Ramadan.
white or different coloured construction paper. Use
a stencil or trace the shape of the lantern.
using white paper colour the fanoos red, yellow,
blue, green, purple, gold, or silver. Every section
of the fanoos should have a different bright colour.
Alternatively, make all the sections of the fanoos
from different colour construction paper and glue
them together on a cardboard backing so they can
be hung on a string.
you prefer, you can trace a 3D model and colour
it in. Fold one half onto the other to complete
the circle and transform it into a stand alone
fanoos. Glue the fanoos on a base of cardboard
to make it easy to stand.
