45 tourists launch route to Dhiba |
| Tourism News |
 |
|
A group of Americans and Europeans have launched the opening of a “floating hotel” tourist route between the ports of Sharm El-Sheikh and Nuwaibi’ in Egypt and Dhiba in the Saudi Arabian region of Tabuk.
Forty-five American and European tourists arrived in Tabuk last week on the first tourist group’s visit to the region from the Egyptian port of Sharm El-Sheikh, a route which will now see the arrival of a further 67 tourist trips from America and European countries in collaboration with Egyptian tourist companies.
Hasan Al-Harbi, chairman of the organizing company, said the route took visitors along the Red Sea on tourist ships, described as “floating hotels,” which provide a wide range of facilities. He said the route would encourage tourism to Tabuk.
The visitors were given a tour of the most prominent ancient sites including Tabuk Fort and Hejaz Railway, and visited the Equestrian Club.
Abdullah Bin Muhammad Al-Rizaiq, Director of the Executive Office of the General Commission for Tourism and Antiquities in Tabuk, said the trip would promote investment in the archaeological sites and monuments.

World's first underwater museum planned for Egypt |
| News |
 |
|
Mention underwater archeological treasures and most people will think of shipwrecks full of chests of gold from far corners of the earth.
However, the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), together with the Egyptian government, is now planning to show the world that underwater archeology can be much more, by building the world's first underwater museum to show the rich cultural and historical heritage that can be found under the Bay of Alexandria in northern Egypt.
The museum will be built by the government of Egypt, while UNESCO has established an International Scientific Advisory Committee to help lay the groundwork. The committee is expected to start preparatory work this month.

Scuba diving found to threaten coral reef systems |
| Diving News |
 |
|
In an abstract from a paper produced by the Department of Marine Biology in the University of Vienna, studies on the impact of scuba divers in the northern parts of the Red Sea demonstrate how scuba diving threatens coral reef systems.
The paper says that reef systems in Dahab, Egypt, are among the world's most dived reefs (30,000 plus a year). The scientists from this university compared frequently dived sites, to sites with little or no diving. It says that benthic (bottom) communities and the condition of corals were examined by the point intercept sampling method in the reef crest zone (3 meters) and reef slope zone (12 meters). Based on a visual census method, there was an abundance of corallivorous and herbivorous fish. Zones subject to intensive Scuba diving activity showed a significantly higher number of broken coral heads and also a lower population of coral. The reef crest coral communities were significantly more affected and up to 95% of the broken coral was branching coral.
For the moment, the abundance of fish did not seem affected however the report says that continued high impact of scuba divers will endanger coral cover in the long term which will in turn affect the fish population.
It was suggested that the number of dives per year be reduced and also the introduction of ecologically sustainable dive plans would be essential to conserve the aesthetic and ecological properties of these dive sites. It was also mentioned that education of dive guides and the recreational divers will form an essential part of a programme of sustainability.

Zaher reaches new broadcasting agreement |
| Sports News |
 |
|
Egyptian Football Association (EFA) president Samir Zaher has reached a new agreement, ending the league's broadcasting row between champions Ahly and the association.
Upon launching their television channel in August, Ahly have demanded exclusive rights for satellite broadcasting of their league games, a demand which contradicts with the EFA's ongoing contract with several satellite channels.
Zaher told FilGoal.com that a new resolution has been reached between the EFA, National Sports Council (NSC), the Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU) and the satellite channels, increasing each club's revenue from broadcasting the league's games.
According to the new agreement, each club will earn up to LE4 million from broadcasting revenues.
Zaher added that he is set to meet with Ahly president Hassan Hamdi to discuss the new deal hoping to settle the ongoing broadcasting crisis.
In the meantime, Zaher convened with ERTU and Egyptian Specialized Channels Sector to confer the Union's calls for free satellite and terrestrial broadcasting of Egyptian clubs' home fixtures in the CAF Champions League.
The union is only granted rights for free terrestrial broadcasting, but now they have asked for satellite broadcasting as well.

| Paper Christmas Tree |
Parents & Kids |
 |
|
|
 |
The tree can be made
as large or as small as you like
|
This craft project is fun for both young and old alike and looks great plain and decorated. A whole forest of trees can be created which also looks really great. All you need for the basic tree is just green construction paper or cardstock, scissors and glue. The tree can be made as large or as small as you like, depending on the size of circles you use.
You will need:
- Green card or construction paper
- Scissors
- Decorative edged scissors (optional)
- White glue (PVA)
- Paper clips to hold paper while drying
- Sticky tape
Instructions:
1 - Cut out 4 circles in 4 different sizes. If you have decorative edged scissors, use these to cut the circles out. This gives the edge a more realistic look.
2 - Cut each circle in half using normal scissors so that you now have eight halves. This is enough for 2 trees.
3 - Form a cone with each semi-circle and glue the side edge. Hold together with a paper clip.
4 - Cut into the bottom about 1/4 inch or 7mm from the bottom edge with your normal scissors. Do this around the whole bottom edge.
5 - Take each of the four sizes and start to assemble your tree. Starting with the bottom, place a dot of glue on the tip. Add the second biggest cone over it, place a dot at the tip and add the next smaller size, and so on. Do this until you have used your last tree part.
6 - Let the tree dry.
7 - To add decorations, create a garland like this. Take a piece of wire about 20 cm or 6 inches long. Add the first bead 5 cm or 2 inches from one end of the wire. Go with the other wire end again through this bead to secure it in place. Continue adding beads in this manner at 1.3 cm or 1/2 inch intervals until the garland is long enough. Insert the first wire end through the top tip of the tree and secure it inside the tree with tape if you can. Wrap the garland around the tree and tuck the other end through the bottom of the tree when finished. Secure this end also with tape.

Bring order to your closet |
Lifestyle |
 |
|
|
 |
Keep similar things together
|
When you're Googling for tips on closet organization, the first thing you learn is there's no single best method. Here are some tips:
What's your lifestyle? Some professionals recommend storing items in drawers; others say to keep everything visible. What guidance to follow and what to ignore depends on your lifestyle: How much time and energy are you willing to invest to organize your mess? Keep an open mind because organization principles you disregard for one closet may work for another.
Storage tips: Hold a clothing swap instead of tossing clothes you don't want anymore. Belt racks can be used for handbags if hung vertically. Storing offseason items in luggage can save space.
Visibility: In all cases, it's about visibility and keeping similar things together. For example, trousers should be hung in a group and lined up by colour.
Coordinate: As an alternative, creating multiple outfits out of five to eight pieces and hanging those coordinating clothes together.
Purging is essential to getting organized. Divide clothing into piles: outdated, ripped, stained or doesn't fit; needs minor repairs; worn often; and anything that doesn't fit into the other categories. Then take action. For example, items needing repair should be fixed within two weeks or tossed because they're not important enough for you to mend.
Dream closet: Organizing items might not help if the source of the problem is the closet itself. DoItYourself.com has a handy guide for building your dream closet, including sketching plans, figuring out the necessary tools and knowing what materials are most appropriate.
