Preparations are being made for the 3rd round of the Interhousing Expo representing all aspects of the property industry of the Red Sea coast. Success from previous years means hopes are high that the 2009 Expo will be bigger, brighter and more beneficial than before. This much anticipated event will be held at the Intercontinental Resort & Casino, Village Road, Hurghada.

The aim is to bring real estate professionals and investors together under one roof to make new industry contacts, enhance supplier/contractor relationships, facilitate business contracts, obtain legal advice, launch the latest developments and attract investment. The Expo has the sponsorship of the Red Sea Governorate and promises to be the property event of the year.

The main aspects that will be covered by this year’s event are - property turn over, real estate investment programs, real estate consultation, the resale process, architectural subjects, finishing & furniture and garden decoration. So whether you are buying your first property, upgrading your current home or adding to your portfolio, there is something for you to explore.

If you are interested in exhibiting at the Interhousing Expo, please contact the event organisers -

Egypt is still cheap enough to draw tourists

Number of visitors increased from last year

The Number of visitors increased from last year

SOME European destinations are facing falling tourist revenues, but Egypt seems to be benefiting as an alternate and cheaper destination. The number of people visiting Egypt increased by more than 25 per cent in the financial year 2007/8, compared with the previous year, tourism minister Mr Zoheir Garrana said.

He declined to give absolute figures but monthly statistics show that Egypt had about 9.8 million visitors in the financial year 2006/7.

The number of nights tourists spent in Egypt and the amount of tourist revenue reaching the country increased 32 per cent in the year, which ended in June, the minister added. He said: 'We anticipate a slowdown but as long as we are within the budget that potential travellers have, I think we will continue to have the growth we have witnessed in the past three years.

Dive Planner for iPhone

News

iPhone

i Phone

When you first start diving, dive tables are a key tool in your portfolio--they tell you how long you can stay at a given depth, and more importantly, how long you can stay at a given depth on subsequent dives. (When you dive, your body retains nitrogen, which isn't a good thing. Over time on the surface, this nitrogen is naturally cleared--so the longer you stay on the surface after your first dive, the longer your second dive can be.)

While dive tables work well, they're a bit tricky to use, and subject to reading errors as you move down and across multiple columns, and flip the dive table from one side to the other. After learning to dive with tables, most scuba divers quickly move to dive computers, as they offer more power and much greater flexibility for divers, especially if you're making multiple dives per day. However, dive tables are useful as backups, as dive computers can and do occasionally fail. So what's this have to do with the iPhone and iPod touch, you may wonder? Thanks to PunkStar Studios' Dive Planner, divers now have an electronic alternative to the dive tables.

Dive Planner is a very simple tool, with three vertical sliders dominating its interface: Pressure Group (which represents the amount of nitrogen in your bloodstream at the start of a dive), Depth, and Minutes Down. A fourth horizontal slider lets you set the planned surface interval between dives. Two large buttons toggle between readouts in feet or meters, and two boxes contain your pressure group after the dive, and after the indicated surface interval. And really, that's all there is. As you drag any of the sliders around, the pressure group readouts change to reflect the current settings. Compared to using a dive table, this is simplicity in action--a few quick finger drags, and you can see the pressure group for your current and planned dives.

Ramadan in Egypt: lights, drums and canons

Fanous Ramadan

Fanous Ramadan

The moment Ramadan starts, Egypt celebrates the month with all its aspects: the spiritual rituals that conflate fasting, praying and participation in charitable activities; and the social side that includes iftar and sohour feasts, television serials and soccer tournaments. Throughout Egypt’s history, some traditions have survived the years with each generation adding its timeless touch.

Some of these Ramadan fixtures include the fanous (lantern), mesaharaty (whose job is to wake people up for the pre-dawn meal) and el-madfa’ (the canon signaling iftar time).

Fig and Lemon Chicken

Fig and Lemon Chicken

Chicken thighs roasted with figs and lemon slices in a lemon, vinegar and brown sugar glaze. Yet it's easy and delicious.

Ingredients:
12 chicken thighs
2 lemons, 1 sliced, 1 halved
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 pounds dried figs
salt to taste
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Directions:

Squeeze juices from halved lemon into a small bowl, then stir in brown sugar, vinegar and water; set aside.
Place figs and sliced lemon segments in the bottom of an 11x16 inch baking/roasting dish. Arrange chicken thighs on top, then pour vinegar mixture over chicken. Finally, sprinkle with salt and dried parsley to taste.
Bake/roast at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 50 minutes, basting frequently (turn figs if they begin to brown).
With a slotted spoon, remove chicken, figs and lemon slices from baking dish and place on a warm platter. Skim fat from cooking juices, then pour over chicken as sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.

How to protect your kids online

Parents & Kids

Protect your kids online

Protect your kids online

As summer winds down and kids go back to school, there are several concerns on parents' minds, such as making sure their child does well in class and behaves. These are important, but too often a threat lurks on the Internet that parents overlook. Kids come home from school and log on to the Internet to play games and talk to their friends. This is a time when parents should be on full alert and talk to their children about Internet safety.

The Internet is a great tool that allows both kids and adults to easily get information and stay in touch with friends. However, there are dangers online — cyber bullies, child predators, identity theft, spam, viruses, phishing scams and concerns about privacy. Users should never download content from unknown sources or give out personal information online. Child predators and other cyber criminals are lurking on the Internet, looking to get information to use to find victims. Also, keep computers in common rooms, so you can see what your kids are doing online.

Work in Working Out Without the Gym

Body and soul

Use the Stairs

Use the Stairs

For so many of us, the idea of working out corresponds with going to the gym. The Harvard Health Letter wants us to put an end to that way of thinking and try adding a few simple ways get your heart pumping without stepping foot on a treadmill. Some of the suggestions are things that a lot of us already do — hopefully — but there are also a few new ideas I'd love to add to my day. They are:

1.Take the faraway spot. Walking from the farthest corner of the parking lot will burn a few calories. If it's a parking garage, head for the roof and use the stairs.

2. Get into the swing of it. Swinging your arms when you walk will help you reach the brisk pace of 3 to 4 miles per hour that is the most healthful.

3. Be part of the fun. Adults shouldn't miss a chance to jump into the fray if kids are playing on a playground or splashing around in the water. Playing along will strengthen muscles and bones and set a good example.
There are many more great, easy ideas so read more.
