City Gets New Flights to Hotspot in Egypt |

SCOTS budget airline flyglobespan is launching flights between Glasgow and the Egyptian resort of Hurghada. Tickets are now on sale for flights, which start in early November, with fares costing from pounds-120 one-way.
The airline operates weekly flights between Glasgow and the popular resort of Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt.
Flyglobespan chairman Tom Dalrymple said: "We are delighted to be launching another direct flight from Scotland to Egypt.
"The success of the Sharm el Sheikh - which began as a winter destination only, but proved so popular it soon became one of our year-round destinations - was definitely a contributing factor in this decision.
"I'm confident that Hurghada, with its sandy beaches, great climate and world-class hotels, will be a great success, attracting a mix of families, couples and dive enthusiasts."
Gordon Dewar, managing director of Glasgow Airport, said: "Egypt is proving increasingly popular with Scottish holidaymakers.
"Its culture, history and landscape make it a quite unique holiday experience, and visitor numbers have been growing consistently."
Rick Green, flyglobespan chief executive, said: "Our summer programme is well ahead of budgets and I have every confidence that our winter programme will prove to be just as successful."

Inefficient ambulance response plagues North Coast vacations |

The lack of well-equipped hospitals, emergency rooms and ambulances has always been a rising concern among Egyptians, especially on highways and at holiday destinations such as the North Coast. People usually choose to cut their vacation and go back to Cairo or Alexandria when they want to see a doctor. But the issue poses a particular challenge when a car accident, or a similar emergency, takes place and the patients have to wait for hours, which sometimes costs them their lives.
The Ministry of Health, however, says it has taken new measures to improve ambulances’ response this year.
Starting from July 22 this year, 50 new ambulances are now spread in stations throughout the Cairo-Alexandria Highway, Wadi El-Natroun Highway and North Coast Highway, noted Sultan.
These are 50 out of 1,213 ambulances to be stationed throughout this year in different parts of the country, mainly highways, such as the Ain Sokhna and Sharm El-Sheikh Highways. “They are highly equipped with the latest medical technology and will arrive at the scene of an accident within eight to 10 minutes after they are contacted,” he added.
In addition, Minister of Health Hatem El-Gabaly has recently announced the launch of helicopter ambulances for the first time in Egypt. There are currently two of them, the first located in Cairo, available for highways and ring-roads in Cairo, Giza, Qalioubiya, Sixth of October and Helwan. The second is in Suez and will be available for highways leading from Cairo to Ain Sokhna, Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Sharm El-Sheikh.

Welcome to "La Femme", French for "The Woman", in the posh resort of Marina, where women can lounge on sunbeds, tan, join in a daily belly-dance contest or breastfeed their babies shielded by barriers of palm tree branches from the prying eyes of men.
The branches even stretch into the Mediterranean sea to give maximum shelter to the women, who have faced the constraints of growing conservatism in this mostly Muslim country.
"Sometimes I turn around and look behind to make sure there are no men. And, thank God, there aren't any," said Safa, a Cairo resident in her 60s, who enjoys the privacy of La Femme beach club.
"It is 'haram' (forbidden in Islam) to strut around in front of men in a swimsuit," she said, as she basked in the sun. "It is an excellent idea to have a beach reserved for women only."
Most of the women at the beach are upper-class like Safa, who can afford to dish out 14 dollars (nine euros) on weekdays and 16 dollars on the weekend for the privilege of entering the gated beach club to preserve their modesty.

Young football talents in Egypt will get a chance to showcase their skills in front of their idol, Ahly icon Mohamed Abou-Trika as part of Samsung Electronics’ campaign launched in cooperation with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA).
The “Samsung Next Hero Campaign,” launched Thursday brings together more than 1,000 young aspiring football players between the ages of 9–14, of whom 10 will be chosen and given the opportunity to train at one of the best international European football academies.
Egyptian star Abou-Trika was announced as the campaign’s ambassador.

Your body needs a steady supply of fuel if it's going to function at maximum efficiency. Eating frequently also increases your body's metabolism, which means it will burn more calories.
5. Watch the mirror, not the scale.
