InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has been awarded the exclusive management contract for Port Ghalib Resort in Marsa Alam, Egypt. The contract was awarded to the group by Sovereign Hospitality Holdings, owned by M.A. Kharafi Group of Kuwait, who developed and own the property.
This spectacular and fully integrated resort site, located on the Red Sea, will include 1,200 rooms and will feature an InterContinental Hotel, two Crowne Plaza hotels and a state-of-the-art International Convention Centre. IHG will also manage the Marina Lodge Hotel which will remain individually branded. IHG commences operation of the four primary properties in August 2008.

A new team of Red Sea ambassadors has been created as a result of an innovative and pioneering new project called Preserve Our Reefs.
The aim of the project is to help preserve the wonderful marine environment of the Red Sea and secondly to develop an understanding of some of the fascinating complexities that make up the coral reef.
The project’s first day began with staff and guests attending coral reef awareness sessions, after which participants moved onto the house reef to monitor the state of the coral – as a contribution to the Project Aware sponsored CoralWatch programme. Project Aware is the very active non-profit environmental organisation.
The project, a partnership between The Ritz-Carlton’s Community Footprints Programme and the hotel’s dive centre, Red Sea Waterworld, is amongst the first of such cooperations in Sharm el Sheikh on Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

- Failing to buckle in your seat belt doubles the risk of your being in an accident and subjects you to a fine of EGP100 to EGP300.The New Egyptian Traffic Law
- Hand-holding your cell-phone distracts your attention for driving and subjects you to a fine of EGP100 to EGP300.
- Besides putting you and other people in danger, driving in the opposite direction may cause accidents. You could be fined from EGP1000 to EGP3000.
- Parking in the wrong place causes traffic jams and could subject you to having your license suspended for a period of no less than 30 days.
- You could be imprisoned for a period of no less than six months and fined from EGP200 to EGP1000, if caught in the act of removing your car clampers.
- You could be imprisoned for a period of no less than six months and fined EGP300 for allowing acts of public indecencies to take place in your car.
- Driving at night without the head and taillights and without the side mirrors subjects you to having your license suspended for a period of no less than six months.
- Driving in unauthorized processions subjects you to having your license suspended for a period of no less than 30 days.
- Having a triangle warning sign prevents road accidents when stopping at night. In the case it is absent your license could be removed for a period of no less than 30 days.
- A first-aid kit will help you take care of your injuries until the ambulance arrives.
- Failing to have a first-aid kit inside your car could subject you to suspending your car license for a period of no less than 30 days.
- Using projector headlights at night endangers other people's lives. Your license could be suspended for a period of no less than 30 days.
- Failing to wear your protective head-gear when riding your motorcycle could subject you to a fine of no less than EGP100.

Elaborate Facebook Worm Virus Spreading |

Facebook malware attacks to date have largely consisted of getting user credentials via phishing sites and then spreading spam and additional phishing attempts. But a new worm is disseminating through Facebook that aims to install trojan software on a user’s machine.
The worm spreads when a compromised user’s account is used to send message to others with a title such as “LOL. You’ve been catched on hidden cam, yo:” and a link to a random URL. The linked website is a YouTube-like page that shows a video player along with what looks like a standard browser message to update your Flash installation. Clicking on the button begins a malware installation of a file called “codecsetup.exe.” We didn’t go so far as to install the software, but our guess is that it zombies your computer, installs a keylogger, and other fun stuff.

Working towards declaring the Red Sea a No Catch Zone |

With fish stocks in the Red Sea under serious threat, HEPCA is joining together with the CDWS and SSDM in an initiative working towards declaring the Red Sea a NO CATCH ZONE.
The National Authority of Fisheries recently issued a decree banning all fishing in the Egyptian Red Sea for a period of three months. Sadly, this decree was not observed. Exceptions were taken and fishing continued in parts of the Red Sea with the justification of the social needs of the fishermen and their families.
According to statistics, the fish catch from the area of the Gulf of Aqaba, and from Hurghada to the deep South, represents just 2% of the total fish catch from the Egyptian Red Sea. Essentially, by destroying these fish stocks, we are sacrificing tourism in the region and the natural resources of the Red Sea for just 2% of the fish catch. The revenue from this 2% catch is clearly minute compared to the total income from tourism in the Red Sea.
The Red Sea is actually one of the poorest fish grounds in the region. Our lack of rainwater, rivers and floods make for a very poor fish habitat. Fish stocks are almost wholly dependent on the delicate reef ecosystems that delight four million tourists in the Red Sea each year. By forcibly removing the fish, which resembles 30% of the economic value of the reef, we are also condemning the reefs of the Red Sea to certain death. In time, the Red Sea will resemble nothing more than an ugly, empty lake.

How to deal with a toddler and have fun at the same time!
It isn't really easy for many people to spend all day with a toddler...to play with trucks, dolls, blocks, or bang pots all day. It isn't easy for some people to spend even an hour with a toddler. Sometimes you, the parent/adult, can get bored or worn out very quickly. Here are a few tips to help you both cope with being together all day, especially on those rainy days.
1) Your enthusiasm is crucial. Your child can sense your mood. If you are not interested in a toy or activity, then he'll think that it isn't interesting or fun either. Haven't you noticed how your child always wants to play with a toy that another child is playing with? And as soon as the child puts it down, he doesn't want it anymore?
2) Start laughing and be silly. It's okay to be silly with your child. Just because you are the adult doesn't mean that you can't have fun too! After you start the sillies, you won't have to think of what to do next, the fun will follow.
3) Be a leader. Instead of just watching what your toddler does, engage him in an activity that you start yourself. Ask him to line up all the trucks for a parade. Or have her put her dolls in a cheerleading pyramid. Or see if he can put all the red blocks in a small bucket and then dump them out like a dump truck.
4) Go back in time. Think about something that you wish you could have done when you were a child. Here's your chance to do it! Did you always want to play with your sisters favorite doll and comb her hair, or with your brothers trucks to have drag races in the kitchen? Start having fun with it and your child will watch and want to join in.
5) Give him/her a task. See if she can bring all of the magazines over to you and use them to cover up the rug. Or see if he can stack all of his board books in one pile. Each time he/she brings you an item, celebrate with a hi-five or a tickle session. Let her tickle you!

- Even people who can’t exercise on land can often exercise in the water
- Excellent rehabilitation exercise for people recovering from an injury
- Less stress on bones and muscles
- Great option for people with arthritis
Plus, water workouts also provide a fun and more socially interactive exercise option. For example, parents can enjoy time at the pool with their children while also fitting in some of their weekly workout sessions. Aquatic aerobic classes also provide a social, group-setting alternative.
