Bluemoon Animal Center |
| Article |
 |
|
The Bluemoon Animal center in Hurghada is a non-profit organization that unfortunately not many people know about. The center is located in Mubarak 1, and shelters all sorts of animals which are being taken care of by volunteers.
Monique and Salah opened this center to:
- Decrease the suffering of animals in Egypt
- Treat sick or wounded animals
- Find new homes for street cats and dogs, or for those who has been abandoned
In addition to all of this, the people at Bluemoon Animal Center dedicates time and resources to run vaccination campaigns and castrations on the street cats and dogs, to lower the population and in the same time decrease their suffering.
So how can you help?
- Donate money, old animal accessories, blankets, food, medication and anything else you have but dont need.
- Be a "Flight buddy". being a flight buddy means taking an animal with you for someone else. They help you check in and someone will be waiting to pick up the animal when you land.
- Come by the center and play with the animals. Most dogs and cats are social and enjoys daily interaction with humans
- Sign up as a volunteer.
Wether you decide to help out or not, make sure to keep the Bluemoon animal centers phone number on your cell. You never know when you will see an animal in distress

Leading marine conservation organization, The Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden (PERSGA), is directing a highly significant project to spread a best practice 'mooring culture' throughout the entire Red Sea region.
This pioneering project is concerned with the installation of proper and sustainable mooring systems, which is significant, not only in terms of protecting valuable coral reefs, marine life and resources, but also as a factor in encouraging a wider environmental consciousness throughout the region.
HEPCA is extremely honored to to be chosen by PERSGA as the implementing partner for this project that truly recognises the importance of positive technology transfer among neighboring countries and communities.

| Egypt to apply int'l university education quality standards |
| Article |
 |
|
Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and the State for Scientific Research Hani Hillal on Saturday said that Egyptian public universities will start applying international education quality standards as of July.
Addressing the inaugural session of the international conference of the National Authority for Guaranteeing Education Quality, Hillal termed quality education as a prerequisite for education for sustainable development.
The Egyptian minister highlighted the importance of quality education for Egyptian educational institutions to stand on "the same footing" with their international peers, as well as its role for Egypt and its labor force to be able to survive in today's highly competitive and fast-developing world.
The number of Egyptian state-owned educational institutions that have started implementing the program to apply quality standards since it was first launched two years ago will rise to a total of 170 faculties, he added.

Things to know before going to Cairo Stadium |
| Sport article |
 |
|
There’s going to be a lot of football action in the coming months. If you’re planning on attending any of these matches at Cairo Stadium, here are some useful tips, especially for first-timers.
The Dos:
- Buy tickets two or three days in advance. This is the best way to purchase tickets at their actual price instead of resorting to the black market, where ticket prices can triple.
- If you’re going to a major game, it’s better to go three hours before kick-off to get good seats. If the game isn’t that important, a half hour beforehand should do.
- Take your food and drinks with you. The food at the stadium is bad and overpriced. Also avoid buying food from street vendors loitering around the stadium.
- In case of a league match, Ahly fans are recommended to situate themselves at the south end while Zamalek fans should eye the north end. Both places see a lot of action and have a great atmosphere especially at kick-off, which is when fans start chanting the tifo (Italian word for match intro).
- If you’re the quiet type and want to avoid the hassle, second-class seats are the right place for you.
Don’ts:
- If you’re taking a cab to the game, never tell the driver you are going to the stadium — you’ll most probably be overcharged. I highly recommended you leave your car at home because you never know how the match will end and how the angry crowd may react to the final result.
- Don’t buy flags from people in front of the stadium gates. Security guards will break the flag-stick, leaving you with a piece of cloth. You can either hide your flag inside your clothes or simply wait to buy one once you are inside. Drive a good bargain since they tend to up the prices.
- Never sit in the wrong end of the stadium, the repercussions of sitting on the opponent’s side can be a nightmare. Always check which side of the stadium is dedicated to fans of your team. If you end up sitting with the wrong crowd, it’s best to keep silent throughout the game.
- Don't hang around in the stadium after the end of the game, especially if it is a Cairo derby between Ahly and Zamalek or Ahly and Ismaili. There is a chance clashes will break out — you don’t want to be caught between security guards and disgruntled fans.

Relay race |
Sooner or later, kids get bored with a backyard game of hide-and-seek, and then it's mom and dad to the rescue! With just a few minutes of planning, you can keep the kids active - and entertained - in fun, out-of-the-ordinary ways all summer long! Try these ideas to get the whole family moving:
1. Have a scavenger hunt. Make a list of 20 activities in your neighborhood, suggests Dana Harden, owner and director of Lake of the Woods Camp for Girls and Greenwoods Camp for Boys in Decatur, Michigan. The list could include activities like drinking from a water fountain, climbing a tree or throwing a basketball into the net on your driveway. Arm the kids with a Polaroid or digital camera (with young children, Mom or Dad can play photographer), and then spend a few hours finding the objects or performing the tasks on the list and taking a picture of them. Once the kids have completed all 20, help them make a keepsake poster of their pictures.
2. Toss rocks. Since you probably don't have horseshoes on hand, collect rocks from the backyard or a local park. Each family member can personalize their rock with their name or a different marking. Then set a target about 10 to 12 feet away and take turns throwing rocks at the target to see who comes closest.
3. Run relay races. You'll need four to six players, so you may want to invite the neighbors over. Split the group into two teams for a tag relay, says Harden. But instead of just running back and forth, make the challenges a little more interesting with multiple steps. For example, each person could start with step one: build a model rocket. Then they run to the designated spot to do step two: sing the family's favorite song. Next they run to a table for step three: eat a cookie. Once the player completes all his tasks, he passes the baton to the next person who then follows the same steps. The first team to have all their players complete the challenge wins.
4. Create an obstacle course. Use your lawn chairs, cardboard boxes or cones to set up an obstacle course in your own backyard. Then get the kids to run through it. Use a stopwatch to see which family member makes it through in the best time.
5. Play wacky golf. You don't need expensive clubs or golf balls to have a game with the kids. In fact, it's even more fun when you equip them with unusual "clubs" like a baseball bat or hockey stick and different sized balls. Or, try a baseball or small beach ball, says Warner. Then set up buckets and tin cans around the yard and enjoy the fun of each family member trying to get a hole in one. |
