Safaga is a favourite spot for sun bathers, and its water is known to have a high content of saline, which is said to be beneficial for the skin. Encircled by Makadi Bay, Soma Bay and Shahl Hashish - Safaga is also home to Tobia Arbaa and Tobia Hamra; these two chain reefs line the shore and make it an ideal spot for daily diving.The town is also popular for windsurfing and, in 1993, hosted the World Windsurfing Championships.
Most dive sites are still unspoilt and can be reached by boat, less than one hour to the inner reefs and between one-and-a-half to two hours to the outer reefs.
There is something there to match all interests: manta rays at Sha’ab Saiman, the eel garden at Gamul Kabira, blue-spotted stingrays at Tobias, sharp drop-offs at Abu Kafan, the anemone city at Panorama Reef. And then there is the night dive at Sha’ab Sheer or confronting the huge Salem Express lying on its starboard side.
Safaga is also famed for Mons Claudianus. These fascinating ruins of a Roman settlement lie in the desert between the Red Sea and the Nile. For more than two centuries, from 68 AD to 282 AD, Mons Claudianus used the surrounding mountains to produce high quality columns and building blocks of grey granite known as granodiorite for the sole purpose of beautifying imperial Rome.
The largest and best-preserved Roman site in the Eastern Desert, Mons Claudianus, was once home to 1,000 quarrymen and soldiers. Today, visitors can still see remnants of the fortress, dwellings, workshops, stables, baths, broken granite columns and slabs. YAOUNDE, May 17 (Reuters)Egyptian archrivals Al Ahli and Zamalek have been drawn in the same group for the African Champions League, lining up the prospect of some riveting competition in the coming months.
The two clubs, who share the record of five victories in Africa's top club competition, are in Group A with the Ivory Coast's ASEC Abidjan, who are playing in the league format for a record ninth time, and Dynamos of Zimbabwe.
The Harare club knocked out defending champions Etoile Sahel of Tunisia in the third round last week.
Two-time champions Enyimba of Nigeria will be favourites in Group B after being paired with Al Hilal of Sudan, who were semi-finalists last year, Cameroon newcomers Coton Sport and TP Mazembe Englebert of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who won the last of their two titles 40 years ago.
The league phase starts in July with the top two finishers in the groups advancing to October's semi-finals. The final is played over two legs at the end of October and in November.

| Metro to Open Up to 20 Wholesale Stores in Egypt |

May 18 (Bloomberg) -- Metro AG, Germany's largest retailer, said it plans to invest as much as 300 million euros ($467 million) to open as many as 20 stores in Egypt, where the economic growth rate is almost three times that of Europe.
Metro will open its first Cash & Carry wholesale outlet in Cairo this year and as many as 10 stores in the country in the coming three to five years, Metro Cash & Carry Chief Executive Officer Frans Muller said today at the World Economic Forum conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. The company plans to open a further 10 outlets in the long term, he said.
By entering the Egyptian market we are consequently pursuing our international expansion strategy and making an important step into the very promising region of the Middle East and North Africa,'' Muller said

If you thought camels were just the slow-moving plodders of the animal world, think again. These hump-backed creatures actually provide some of the speediest and bumpiest racing there is, as any well-seasoned traveller unfortunate enough to have had their bones vigorously shaken will testify.
With over 250 camels from 17 different Egyptian tribes, this will be something of a large-scale event, and the races promise to be thrilling.
Though the novice camel-rider is perhaps safest merely spectating during this festival, it is without a doubt a sight to behold. If you're in Sharm El-Sheikh for some diving, it is worth surfacing to witness an equally spectacular, though slightly less serene, example of nature in action.

| How to Use Mini-Meditations to Relax and Find Focus |

It’s often hard to be as focused as we’d like to be. Many things in our hectic lives interrupt our concentration and erode focus. Think: cell phones, instant messaging, email, and co-workers vying for our time and energy.
Fortunately, there are ways to counteract these forces and bring better, more relaxed focus to our activities. One way is to use “mini-meditations.”
Mini-meditations boost focus and calm your mind throughout the day. They require no fancy preparation or techniques, and you can do them anywhere in less than a minute — so they’re ideal mindfulness exercises whether you’re at home in a quiet room or in the midst of a busy day at work.
Here’s the process:
1. Stop what you’re doing. Grab a minute for yourself, and mentally set aside what you’re doing. Remember: the whole exercise takes less than a minute, so you needn’t make a big deal about finding the perfect stopping point. It’s really more a pause than a stop, and you’ll be refreshed and able to start what you’re doing again in just a little bit.
2. Close your eyes. Let your eyelids close and relax.
3. Pay attention to your breath. The core of this exercise is awareness of your breath. You needn’t do anything special with it — just breathe normally, but do pay attention to the sensation of your breath entering and leaving your body. If you’d like, you may breathe a bit slower and more deeply than you ordinarily do.
4. Count three full inhale-exhale cycles. Inhale and exhale. As you exhale, think to yourself: one. Inhale and exhale again, and think: two. Finally, inhale and exhale, and think: three.
5. Slowly open your eyes and resume what you were doing.
That’s it! Nice and simple. Try mini-meditations periodically throughout your day, and see for yourself if it’s helpful to you.
