Win a trip to the Maldives! |
| News |
 |
|
You could win round-trip airfare and four nights in the Maldives, courtesy of Egypt Today, Qatar Airways and Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.
This archipelago nation in the Indian Ocean is the height of paradise, surrounded by 26 coral atolls that form tranquil lagoons with fantastic diving, snorkeling and windsurfing. You can even explore the water world by submarine, or you could just stay on the beach all day, enjoy seafood fresh out of the water and pretend you’re Robinson Crusoe. Even the urban side is relaxed: the island capital of Malé has tree-lined streets and local bazaars, plus historic and modern mosques dotting the skyline.
The winner will fly Qatar Airways to the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, set on two private islands with idyllic white-sand beach and unspoiled reef. When you’re done sunning yourself, dress for dinner at the very exclusive, all-glass undersea restaurant — the first of its kind in the world.
The winner will be chosen at random from all the correct entries. Only online entries will be accepted. The contest runs from April 1 – May 20
The 52 Weekends contest is sponsored by Egypt Today, Qatar Airways and Conrad Hotels. Employees and relatives of IBA Media, Qatar Airways and Conrad Hotels are not eligible to participate in this competition.

Life's a beach and golf and... an underwater city? |
| Article |
 |
|
Where do you get all three? And what is a city doing underwater anyway? Answer : The Sahl Hasheesh (meaning Green Valley) megaresort - A mystical and timeless spectacular new resort on Egypt's Red sea coast just half an hour South of Hurghada. Sahl Hasheesh will compare with just about any world class resort when completed.
Here, one of the world's most remarkable holiday property projects is rising from the desert. Spread over an area of 32 million square metres bordered by 12.5km of sandy beach, it combines all the facilities of a top resort with the bustling atmosphere of a lively port. The town will have not only premium resort facilities, but also essential community infrastructure like retail areas and hospitals. At its centre will be an arcaded piazza with an avenue leading to the Red sea, lined with over 100,000 fully grown palm trees specially brought in from the Nile.
The "sunken city" will be one of the main attractions. It is a feature which doesn't exist elsewhere in the Middle East or Africa.
The planners of the resort are building an entire historic city underwater along similar lines to the" lost city of Atlantis." The ruins of the city will be seen underwater, and the concept is a pharonic city that was part of Sahl Hasheesh area, which sank millions of years ago. While walking along the boardwalk, which connects to the pier that extends into the water 250m, one will be able to see the "sunken city" whilst standing on dry land. The main attraction though will be for divers who will want to see the cities' features at close quarters.

Ghaly Wants Egypt Recall |
| Sport News |
 |
|
Egyptian international midfielder, Hossam Ghaly has stated that he would love to return to the Egyptian national team to join in the Pharaohs' 2010 World Cup and African Nations' Cup qualifying campaign.
The 26 year old midfielder dumped the Egyptian team heading to Ghana for the 2008 African Nations Cup in favour of remaining in England with his Premiership club side, Derby County, to whom he is on loan from Spurs.
But in an interview published on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) official website, the mercurial playmaker said he is waiting for coach Hassan Shehata to extend an invitation to him to enable him rejoin with the Pharaohs.
“I want to play for my country again and I hope to help them reach the World Cup finals in South Africa” he told the website.

Egypt eyes $12 bln in tourism earnings by 2011 |
| News |
 |
|
Egypt hopes to boost its tourism earnings by 26 percent to 12 billion dollars by 2011, the official MENA agency reported on Saturday.
According to a plan launched by Tourism Minister Zuheir Garana, Egypt hopes to welcome some 14 million tourists in 2011, requiring a capacity of 240,000 hotel rooms, compared with 11 million in 2007, MENA reported.
The minister said Egypt wants to attract private investors to fund the ambitious plan which also includes developing eco-tourism and medical tourism, limiting the government's role to supervision and planning.
The plan sees the number of hotel nights spent in Egypt reaching 140 million in 2011, compared with 112 million in 2007.
Tourism accounts for almost 20 percent of Egypt's foreign currency revenue.

| Bouquet of Photo Flowers |
Looking for a bouquet of flowers that will never wilt or die?
|
| Parents & kids |
 |
|
 |
Photo flowers |
What you will need:
• Construction paper, various colors
• Glue stick
• Photos
• Scissor
• Tape
• Green chenille stems, one for each flowers
How to make it:
1. Cut photos into circles to be used as the center of the flower.
2. Cut simple flower shapes out of construction paper.
3. Glue photo circle to the center of the flower.
4. This step is optional: Glue construction paper flower to a piece of patterned paper. Cut around the flower giving your construction paper about a half inch border of patterned paper.
5. Tape chenille stem to the back of your flower, be sure tape is secure by pressing onto tape with your fingernail.
6. Trim ends of chenille to the length you desire, depending on what you are using as a vase. If making a hand held bouquet, don’t trim the chenille; simply tie a ribbon bow around them all
Tip: Instead of patterned paper, have children color white paper with various colored markers or crayons and use that as your border.
* If you find it easier, instead of cutting around the border, trace it lightly first with a pencil, then cut.
* Even the littlest of children can make this craft, simply help them by cutting out photos and flower ahead of time and have them help with the gluing and taping.

| 4 fixes to ease tired eyes |
| Body and Soul |
|
 |
Bright eye |
Fighting Bags
For a quick fix, place cucumber slices (for astringency) or chilled caffeinated tea bags (for tannins) on your eyes for 15 minutes to tighten skin and absorb fluid. But eat vitamin C-rich foods to support collagen production.Tap the eye area lightly while moisturizing to help dissipate excess fluid, says home-spa doyenne Janice Cox, author of "Natural Beauty at Home." To reduce water retention, drink water, limit alcohol, and get more rest.
Fixing Dark Circles
For immediate results, look for a concealer that is close to your natural complexion -- lighter tones will make circles look gray. Or try plumping up thin skin with a fast-absorbing oil like jojoba. Try foods rich in vitamin K because it helps fortify blood-vessel walls, and use a daily topical treatment with vitamin K. Also aim for more downtime and sleep.
Beating Crow's Feet
Sun exposure and aging diminish skin's elasticity; UV rays and pollution cause inflammation and cell damage. As a result, repeated expressions (smiling, squinting) form creases. Look for products containing evening primrose, jojoba, sesame oils to hydrate skin and maintain flexibility; aloe to speed healing; and antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E to help fight free radicals and sun damage.
Preventing Crinkled Eyelids
To quickly prevent, use a cream eye shadow, or apply a hydrating primer underneath your usual powder to help retain natural moisture. Or use a light eye cream in the morning and a rich cream at night; tap the eye area lightly with your finger until the product is absorbed to stimulate circulation. Use a gentle, hydrating makeup remover or cleanser. Don't scrub harder to remove stubborn makeup; instead, gently wash the area again. Eliminate talc-based eye shadows, which sap moisture.
