While Cairo is the most popular Egyptian destination, agents would do well to twin a trip to the city with a stay in one of the country’s up-and-coming locations such as Alexandria.
Agents should look beyond Cairo to Egypt's burgeoning destinations such as Alexandria and Luxor where the tourism infrastructure is improving.
Egypt is not a difficult country to sell, with Middle East travellers placing it amongst their top five destinations according to Emirates Holidays.
But the steady flow of client requests makes it easy for agents to offer the familiar - short breaks to Cairo or resort holidays to Sharm El Sheikh - rather than the country's emerging destinations.
"Agents need to diversify rather than sell one region or one type of holiday, because we have a very broad cross-section in Egypt," says Simon Hasdell, vice president of operations for Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and North Africa, Hilton Hotels.
"You've got the main resorts with the sun-and-fun experience at Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada, the northern Sinai coast - Dahab, Nawab and Taba - and of course Cairo has a great night life, bars and the boats on the Nile. Then you've got historical Alexandria, as well as Luxor and Aswan, which are very serene areas of Egypt.

Emperor Divers’ Marsa Alam team is looking at the relationship of weather, tides and moon phase to see if there is a pattern that would allow them to predict when Dugong sightings increase. So far, surface sightings seem to be in rough seas and almost all are around mid day.
Under the supervision of Marsa Alam's 'Resident Instructor Dugong Spotter', Mo, guests have had numerous encounters including two dugong at the surface on a number of occasions and identified the same individual as a 'local' at one of the closest sites. The ever-popular Abu Dabab shore dive has also given some amazing encounters with Denis and Lucy the two resident Dugongs.

How to make it:
1. Trace and cut around your child's hand 4-6 times on colored paper. Also make 6 leaves on green paper.
2. Write messages on the hands such as: water the plants, One Big Hug, Clean my room, etc.
3. Tape the hands to the back of the florist picks. Add paper leaves if desired.
4. Fill the potwith Styrofoam or sand.
5. Insert the Flowers into the pot and you are done!
