Verdict’s Out On Hadary! |
| Sport news |
 |
|
After more than six days of speculation and endless meetings, Al Ahly finally ended the controversy with a verdict many believe was light on El Hadary.
The Ahly board decided to suspend Egypt’s main goalkeeper for 21 days and a reported fine of 250,000 L.E.
Given the controversy of the timing and the way El Hadary left the club to sign for Switzerland’s FC Sion, the majority of the people in Egypt expected a severe punishment, and will definitely feel that Essam escaped with a light suspension and a small fine for what many believe to be a crime against one of Egypt’s top clubs.
According to Al-Ahram newspaper however, these decisions regarding the keeper are only temporary, and will have further ramifications as the club are waiting for a decision from FIFA after sending in all the legal papers regarding the player.
The decision from FIFA was expected to be announced on Sunday, and accordingly further decisions will be taken against the keeper which could end in the termination of his contract with the club.
Both FC Sion and Al Ahly are pursuing their rights for the case to ensure that both sides will come out on top rightfully, and more official information is expected to be out in the coming hours in what has been the story of the hour for Egyptian football.

Emperor Divers find 12th Red Sea whale shark! |
Red Sea Environment |
| Article |
 |
|
Emperor Divers, one of the first centres to support Whale Shark Awareness REDSEA have successfully enabled the 12th Red Sea whale shark to be photo tagged.
Spotted on 7th February during a week of calm weather in the southern Red Sea, Emperor’s Divers daily boat, Rachel was returning to the centre based at Coral Beach, Port Ghalib when the huge fish was seen swimming on the surface near to the coastal dive site, Shoni Soraya.
Heading north and only around 10m away from the reef plate near to Ras el Torfa, the juvenile whale shark looked like it wanted to play, coming to the surface and nudging the zodiac with its huge tail out of the water. Emperor Dive Guides briefed guests to keep a safe distance and assessed the conditions as safe, guests were snorkeling and keeping their distance from the whale shark, the whale shark however seemed more curious and kept swimming towards them!
The snorkelers stayed for about 20 minutes which was long enough for guest Jennifer Edwards to take the photos which have enabled identification. “At no time did the giant fish attempt to swim away, even when we got back on the boat, it didn’t swim off or dive down” said Jennifer.

| El Sokhna to become new Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts destination on the Red Sea |
| Article |
 |
|
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is pushing ahead with its expansion strategy in Egypt. At the end of 2007 two new luxury cruisers set sail on their maiden voyage on the Nile and Lake Nasser, and just recently two projects were announced in Sharm El Sheikh. Now a management agreement for a 5-star holiday resort in El Sokhna has been signed with the owning company Galalah Company for Touristic Investments S.A.E. The official opening of the Mövenpick Resort El Sokhna is already scheduled for June 2008.
The Mövenpick Resort El Sokhna is an integral part of the 62 acre El Ein Resort Village, directly on the shores of the Red Sea with its own private beach of fine sand and crystal clear waters.
“Our new hotel will appeal not just to guests from all over the world, but above all to our target group in Egypt,” says Josef Kufer, Senior Vice President Africa. “Indeed, El Sokhna is located 55 km south of the Suez Canal, which means it is only 90 minutes by car from Cairo.”

The journey of 'The Traveler' |
| Article |
 |
|
Critics expect 2008 to be a great a year for Egyptian cinema thanks to a host of star-studded productions including “Leilet El Baby Doll” (Baby Doll Night), “Hassan & Morkos” as well as Youssri Nasrallah’s “Ginenet El-Asmak” (The Fish Garden).
The most intriguing picture of the group is “El Mosafer” (The Traveler), starring legendary Egyptian actor Omar Sharif and directed by little-known filmmaker Ahmed Maher.
“El Mosafer” marks the return of the Ministry of Culture to film production a after 30-year absence. It is also Sharif’s first Egyptian movie since 1993’s “Dehk We Leab We Gad We Hob” (Laughter, Games, Seriousness and Love).
Set in three different time periods, “El Mosafer” traces the life of one man over three days in three different years: 1948 in Suez, 1973 in Alexandria and 2001 in Cairo.
Actor Khaled El-Nabawy plays the younger Sharif in the first part of the film while Lebanese newcomer Sereen Abdel Nour plays his love interest. Amr Waked, Basma and Sherif Ramzy are among the cast members.
Unlike the “Doll,” “Hassan” or “Garden,” little is known about “El Mosafer” whose genre and themes remain a mystery.

| Article |
 |

The latest member of the Pyramisa Hotels, Resorts and Nile Cruises family, the multimillion dollar Sahl Hasheesh Pyramisa, expects to be instrumental in the rebirth of the Sahl Hasheesh area, which lies south of Hurgada on the Red Sea, in Egypt.
The upscale hotel promises an exclusive time-out in the vicinity of busy Hurghada, reputed as a diving haven and overflowing with European package tourists.
Keen to maintain their brand as distinct from the budget tourism attraction of Hurghada, the upscale hotel offers a wide range of luxury rooms, suites and villas stretching 120 000 square metres.
Additionally, Sahl Hasheesh Pyramisa caters to a wide audience through recreation and relaxation. Two pool landscapes adorned with slides, waterfalls and sandy areas provide a picturesque getaway, coupled with the entertainment of 5 restaurants, 4 bars, a diving centre, aqua centre and other sporting activities.
Sahl Hasheesh itself is a promising area, not only sprinkled with resorts and hotels, but providing a yacht club, marina, golf course, cinema complex and theatre.

Dakhla Oasis
The Dakhla Oasis (El-Dakhla, the Inner Oasis) lies in the Western Desert some 465mi/750km southwest of Cairo, in latitude 25° 24' north and longitude 28° 54' east. Its lush green date groves and gardens are an attractive sight, contrasting strikingly with the ochre and pink rocks of the desert.
Dakhla is, after the Fayyum, the largest and most populous of the Egyptian oases, with some 20,000 inhabitants. It has large reserves of water, with more than 700 natural springs, lakes and ponds; but since the water of the springs is brackish it must be pounded and stored in a network of cisterns to allow the salt to settle. Like the other large oases in the Western (Libyan) Desert, Dakhla is being developed and enlarged under the New Valley land reclamation project. Deep bores have tapped underground water for use in irrigation and have made it possible to win new land for cultivation. The inhabitants of the oasis cultivate and export dates, citrus fruits, mangoes, apricots and vegetables, and also rear a certain amount of livestock (mainly poultry). In recent years increasing quantities of phosphate have been mined.

Egg Hunt Basket |
Whether you attend your local egg hunt in the park or host your own in your backyard, make these festive baskets to collect your eggs in.
What you will need:
• Small woven Easter basket
• 2-3 sheets of white felt
• 1-2 sheets of pink felt
• Felt scraps in pastel colors (purple, yellow, green, pink, blue)
• White craft glue
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun
• Wide colorful ribbon for rim
• 3-yard roll of wide blue ribbon for handle
• Other colorful ribbons for accents
How to make it:
1. First, wrap felt around the basket without gluing to see how much you will need. For our basket we used two sheets of white felt, folded in half lengthwise.
2. Once you know how much felt you'll need, start gluing it in place using a hot glue gun. Start at the rim and work your way downward, gluing any excess felt to the bottom of the basket.
3. Trim any edges that overlap too much and then glue them down.
4. Follow the same idea with the pink felt before gluing to see how much you will need to line the basket. White craft glue works best for this step. We used one sheet cut in half lengthwise for the inside and cut out an oval from another sheet to glue to the bottom. To get the measurement for this, simply place the basket onto your felt and trace the bottom with a pencil before cutting it out.
5. To cover the overlaps around the rim, use a colorful wide ribbon. Glue it in place with hot glue as you go.
6. To cover the handle, tack the beginning of the blue ribbon to the bottom inside of the handle. Start wrapping it around the handle, pulling snug as you go. Stop and tack with hot glue about four or five times to eliminate the possibility of it unraveling. Glue in place at the other end of the handle and trim if needed.
7. Using some colorful ribbon, tie bows at the bottom of the handle on each end - this will cover any "messy" spots.
8. Cut out ovals (eggs) from the pastel colored felt scraps. Using white craft glue, glue them to the white felt across the front of the basket.
9. Optionally, you can tie a ribbon to the top of the handle that matches the ribbon on the rim.
