Online travel agency Freedom Direct has seen a rush on early bookings for Egypt and the Red Sea resorts, particularly Sharm el-Sheikh, as holidaymakers follow their advice to book early for the best holiday bargains.
Analysis of bookings for winter sun holidays since the start of August shows a surge in bookings for holidays in Sharm el-Sheikh and other Red Sea resort during the winter months.
While other popular winter sun holiday destinations available through Freedom Direct proving popular, the rate of advance bookings for these other resorts is not at the same level as bookings being made for the Red Sea resorts.
Nick Jackson of Freedom Direct explains: “Egypt, and in particular Sharm el-Sheikh continues to grow in popularity. Red Sea holiday resorts are ideal for people looking for guaranteed sun and relaxation in the winter months as the accommodation and facilities on offer are excellent value for money.
“We constantly remind our customers that the best way to grab a great holiday bargain is to book early and the message is definitely getting through. Egypt’s resorts are open all year, making it really easy for holidaymakers to plan their holidays well ahead by researching prices and availability...

Even as her Bollywood colleagues are making news for different reasons, former Miss India and actress Celina Jaitley is quietly and steadily securing her place in the sun. Her hectic schedule today includes shooting, travel, signing new Hollywood deals, meeting filmmakers abroad and in India, and promoting cultural ties between countries.
Celina is on a roll. She’s just completed her first Hollywood film, Love Has No Message, with Australian actor Ben Mitchell. And her next Hollywood project, The Quest of Sherazzade, begins at the end of this month. It’s not easy to pin her down these days. But BT bumped into Celina at the Lakme Fashion Week and cornered her for a chat.
“Acting is my passion, my first love, whatever else I am doing are perks that I enjoy,” said the actress who is just back from Egypt. Celina has been signed on as the Face of Egypt and will act as a brand ambassadress for the Land of Pharoahs.

| The Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt has finally opened its doors, but activists and families of cancer patients alike continue working hard to ensure the facility meets the needs of some of the nation’s most vulnerable kids |
| News |
 |
|
It used to be that when a child in Egypt was diagnosed with cancer, his family’s world would turn upside down. Frantic parents would attempt to move heaven and earth to save their child, but previously they were battling much more than just a disease: The lack of local medical expertise, the distance to specialized medical care, and the cost of treatment only added to the anguish of an already stressful situation.
This past July, after an intense, eight-year volunteer effort, the new Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt (CCHE) finally opened its doors in Cairo’s Sayyida Zeinab district. Not only is the CCHE one-of-a-kind in the Middle East, offering free treatment for all forms of cancer, the building and equipment were entirely funded through private and corporate donations — more than $88 million worth. Which is why the facility is often called “Hospital 57357,” referring to the account number set up at six local banks to receive donations.
The idea of a state-of-the-art children’s cancer hospital open to children from all social and ethnic backgrounds in Egypt and the Arab world started in the mid-1990s with Dr. Sherif Aboul Naga, a pediatric oncologist at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) who was frustrated by shortages of equipment and trained personnel. His efforts led to the creation of the Associated Friends of the National Cancer Institute (AFNCI), which received NGO status in 1998. “Dr. Sherif Aboul Naga and I met when he was at the NCI and we wanted to see a way to improve pediatric oncology,” recalls Lois Crooks, consultant to the AFNCI Board of Directors.

| Craft Stick Mummy |
Halloween - Party guests are sure to get wrapped up in this activity: crafting mini mummies to take home as favors when the festivities are over.

Craft Stick Mummy |
What you will need:
1. Wire snips
2. Wooden craft sticks
3. Wooden craft spoons
4. Glue dots
5. 1 square yard of muslin torn into 1-inch-wide strips (this should be enough for at least 7 mummies)
6. Small googly eyes
How to make it:
1. With the wire snips, trim 2 craft sticks to 2 1/2 inches for the arms and 2 more to 3 inches for the legs. Attach an arm and a leg to each side of a wooden craft spoon using 1 glue dot per limb.
2. Stick the end of a muslin strip to the skeleton with a glue dot and wrap the rest of the length around the wood, using another dot at the end. Wrap 4 or so more strips around the skeleton in this way. Use glue dots to attach googly eyes.
Tipp:
This easy idea can vary slightly: Use a plastic spoon and don't cover the spoon head so the kids can use it to eat during the party.
