What does user-generated content mean?
Until recently content on the Internet was
created and published by the owner of the website.
Now the trend is to allow the Internet community to create, not just consume content.
how does it relate to the tourism and travel industry?
More and more websites are allowing users to generate and share information and ideas (such as hotel or destination reviews) that are unfiltered and free of
marketing bias. The success of such a model is reflected in sites like trip advisor, yahoo trip planner and other large online travel websites. The growing number of these types of sites is a reflection of how people now research and buy their travel trips.

| Ancient Egypt Cities Leveled by Massive Volcano |
| Lava finds suggest. |
| news |
 |
|
Egyptian archaeologists today announced that they have unearthed traces of solidified lava on the northern coast of Sinai that date to around 1500 B.C.—supporting accounts that ancient Egyptian settlements were buried by a massive volcanic eruption in the Mediterranean
The archaeological team, led by Mohamed Abdel Maqsoud of Egypt's Supreme Council for Antiquities, found houses, military structures, and tombs encased in ash, along with fragments of pumice, near the ancient Egyptian fortress of Tharo, on the Horus military road. Tharo is located close to El Qantara, where the Nile Delta meets the Sinai peninsula.
According to Zahi Hawass, secretary general of the council, the lava and ash hail from Santorini, an eastern Mediterranean volcano that has been linked to the myth of Atlantis.
