Don't you hate long registration pages?access card

We do, that’s why we have invented the funky, simple and beautiful “Spot access card”!

We sat together and came up with something so unique that even your grandma will understand how it works!

- You can login or register in 3 simple steps without losing time or patience. Gone are the days where you have to list your complete family tree along with your blood type and favorite color!

- If you were in the middle of adding classifieds, or busy searching for something, but not logged in, the Access card simply pops up – you enter your name and e-mail with choice of password and off you go… no reloading of the page or redirection to a new long registration page.

Compared to other registration forms our sign up process cannot be any simpler and more user-friendly…

Your Spot access card is also not only your access to any Spot Local website but also your public profile in the Spot community. Feel free to add as much information about yourself as you would like the public to see along with optional picture. Clicking someone’s access card allows you to send them a private message (which we talked about last week) and in the future invite others to join your groups.

Check out what's coming up next week:

Count down to launch... 14 days and counting!

History of Egypt...

Ancient Egypt
Nile River

The Importance of the Nile River

During this period in ancient Egypt, when people first began to settle along the banks of the Nile and to evolve from hunters and gatherers to settled, subsistence agriculturalists, Egyptians developed the written language, religion, and institutions that made it the world's first organized society.

Through pharaonic Egypt, Africa claims to be the cradle of one of the earliest and most spectacular civilizations of antiquity.

One of the unique features of ancient Egyptian Nile River civilization was the bond between the Nile and the Egyptian people and their institutions. The Nile was responsible for the great productivity of the soil, because it annually brought a copious deposit of rich silt from the monsoon-swept tableland of Ethiopia.

Each July, the level of the Nile began to rise, and by the end of August, the flood reached its full height. At the end of October, the flood began to recede, leaving behind a fairly uniform deposit of silt as well as lagoons and streams that became natural reservoirs for fish. By April, the Nile was at its lowest level. Vegetation started to diminish, seasonal pools dried out, and game began to move south. Then in July, the Nile would rise again, and the cycle was repeated. Read More......

Parents & Kids...

Sparkly Snowflake Mobile

Kids have been making paper snowflakes for generations. Even grandparents get in on the fun when the paper and scissors come out! Hang thisfun mobile from the ceiling.

This project is rated EASY to do.

What You Need:

  • white paper
  • scissors
  • 2 large craft sticks
  • white acrylic paint
  • glitter (silver, white, pink or blue)
  • white string
  • silver ribbon
  • white craft glue
  • paint brush
  • thumbtack

How To Make It:

  1. Cut paper snowflakes out of white paper. To do this, fold paper in half, then fold in half again. Take the bottom right corner of the rectangle and fold it up and over the left side to make a triangle. Use scissors to remove the excess strip of paper at the bottom. This gives you a perfect square. Now cut small strips and triangles from all edges of the paper, leaving enough room in the center so that it does not fall apart. Unfold your snowflake.
  2. To flatten out the creases from the folds, press snowflakes in a heavy book as you cut the next one, continue until you have cut-out four snowflakes.
  3. Mix white craft glue with some water, about half and half.
  4. Use paint brush to paint glue mixture onto the paper snowflake.
  5. Sprinkle heavily with glitter. Let dry completely.
  6. Tap off excess and repeat on other side.
  7. While snowflakes are drying, paint one side of the craft sticks white. Before paint has a chance to dry, sprinkle with glitter. Let dry, then repeat on other side.
  8. Cut white string into 4 different lengths and glue one to the back of each snowflake.
  9. Glue craft sticks together in the shape of an “X” and let dry.
  10. Tie ribbon around center of the “X”, leaving enough ribbon at the top to hang mobile.
  11. Tie the snowflakes onto the mobile, one string on each end of the craft sticks. Put a dot of glue one the string to secure it in place. You can wrap the string around the craft stick one or more times if the lengths are not to your liking.
  12. Press a thumbtack into the ribbon and push into the ceiling or door jam to hang.

Helpful Hints

  • Instead of painting the snowflakes with the glue mixture you can pipe on white school glue and then sprinkle with glitter.
  • There are many elaborate ways to make snowflakes. Let children experiment with different cuts and shapes—just have a trash can nearby for the scraps.
  • You can purchase glitter spray paint that you can use instead of sprinkle glitter. Simply spray the paper with silver glitter paint and you are finished. Spray paints should only be handled by adults.
