New Year Resolutions 2005

So, just a couple of days since we're out of 2004 (phew!!) and into 2005. That means it's about that time of year when we weird humans put together lists of unreachable goals that we call our new year's resolutions.

Of course, I didn't accomplish most of my goals from last year, so I'll be carrying some of them with me to the New Year.

And so my list of New Year resolutions for 2005 goes as follows, in no particular order:

•  Join a gym and get back in shape. (Do I have to stop eating chocolate for this?)
•  Organize my time better and allocate more time for fun and leisure. (But, which spare time??)
•  Try to cut down on the number of movies I watch. (not very difficult, since I fall in sleep most of the time)
•  Stop exercising - Waste of time
•  Read more (or does this make cleverer?)
•  Drink - Drink some more.
•  Take up a new habit: smoking.
•  Spend more time at work. (good plan to get more sleep)
•  Take a vacation to someplace important: like to see the largest ball of twine.
•  Stop bringing lunch from home: I should eat out more - tasting better
•  Start being superstitious.
•  Have my car lowered and invest in a really loud stereo system. Get the windows tinted.
•  Speak in a monotone voice and only use monosyllabic words.
•  Only wear jeans that are two sizes too small and use a chain or rope for a belt.
•  And don't forget to keep some resolutions for 2006

The theme of the year 2005 for me is "Life Decisions & Change".

I want to work on setting a great path for my whole life, take the right decisions even if they're hard and change a lot of things I'm not satisfied with.

I want to do more of the stuff I love and waste less of my time on the stuff I hate.

I hope I get to realize these goals. Even though I need to put some effort into it, I think I've been pretty realistic with my list for this year.

Oh well, only time will tell...

Cold snap brings Gulf rare snow
Snow has fallen in the United Arab Emirates for the first time in years, shocking residents of a desert country better known for its 50C summer heat.

Meteorologists reported heavy snowfall on the mountains of Ras al Khaimah, the federation's most northerly Emirate, as a cold snap gripped the region. Many people told local media it was the first snowfall there in living memory. "This is certainly a rare occurrence that happens every 20 to 30 years," a forecaster told Reuters news agency.

In November, the Emirates'
leaders asked people to pray for rain

Prayers for rain

Local newspapers said people were stunned by the white blanket of snow in the Al-Jees mountain cluster. The range "had heavy night-time snowfall for the past two days as a result of temperatures dropping to as low as -5C [23F]", according to the Gulf News. Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, crown prince and deputy ruler of Ras al Khaimah, visited the mountains to see the snow and brought some back to show people, the paper said.

Temperatures in Dubai, which attracts large numbers of tourists seeking winter sun, dipped as low as 12C (53.6F) on Wednesday night. In summer they can top 50C (122F). Heavy rain led to hundreds of accidents on the roads on Monday, Dubai's police said, because drivers were unaccustomed to the conditions. Forecasters said the region's chilly spell would probably end by next week, AFP news agency reports. Only a month ago, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other sheikhs led Muslims across the Emirates in prayers for rain. Demand for water has far outstripped supply in the UAE in recent years, with rainfall well below the seasonal average

The practitioner will describe your personal energy field to increase your self awareness and the ability to develop your personality. Duration is 60 to 90 minutes.
