4th of December at 20.08 Colona is organizing a night dive event, together with several other destinations in many countries. Our hopes are to set a world record this year. It is a great opportunity to show even more people what it is we do, what scuba diving can offer, what a great community we have, and that our hobby is safe! The media has been very supportive in helping us showing our passion.
Simultaneous night dives are expected to be made in several countries, including Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Svalbard, and the Faroe Islands. Dive communities in other countries have also expressed and interest in participating in this year’s Divers’ Night.
The first Divers’ Night was organized in Norway in 2005; attracting 351 scuba divers to participate in the country-wide event. These dives took place in 40 different locations, the northernmost in Nordkapp and all the way down to southern Lindesnes. In 2006 the participants had increased to 889 people diving from 93 locations all throughout Scandinavia. Last year’s event was the largest so far, with 1859 divers getting in the water at 138 various locations.
The main reason for Divers’ Night is to get together and have fun, regardless of dive club or country. We get the chance to show the world what a great hobby we have, hopefully attracting more people to not only to diving in general, but to diving activities in the winter, when in might be a little cold and dark.
The diving is Free Of Charge for all divers. If anyone needs to rent equipment or lamp, please let us now in advance. The dive will take place at Magawish beach, and will follow by a small snack and maybe some drinks together at our Lazy Lobster Bar.
If you are not carrying a Advanced Open Water certificate, or can written proof of a night dive, you can sign up for a Adventure Dive at an additional cost. The actual dive, is till for free.
